Mt Hiei is mind blowing. There are 2 funiculars, a tram, and a french inspired art garden at the top of the mountain. I took so many photos today I hard a hard time narrowing it down. If you can manage it make sure you buy the Mount Hiei Summit Pass. Do your research and bring photos or a copy of this web page, because the ticket sales people were not aware of the summit pass until we showed them what we meant. I guess they don’t sell very many.

Scroll to the very bottom and you will see the Summit Pass info. The price had gone up to 3300 Yen but it is still much better than buying individual tickets for each leg of the trip.
2017 UPDATE: The Keihan website has been updated to reflect the 3300 Yen price, and the Summit Pass is now called the “Hieizan Odan Ticket.”
