Last 2 days in Beijing then we will be off to Zhangziajie. Finally made it over to see the amazing buildings inside the Olympic Park, such as the Bird’s Nest and the Bubble. There is a really incredible looking observation tower there as well, but we couldn’t go because it was undergoing construction.
We had dinner at the very pricey DaDong Roast Duck Restaurant, and if you can afford it, it is worth the experience. I would suggest getting a reservation in advance and request to sit next to the water and ovens in the main dining room. We had the prefix menu which allowed us to taste a lot of different things, including the famous duck of course. The menu is huge, so we could easily go back a couple of times.

The next day we went to the local bus station to get refunded the balance left on our subway cards, which is not possible in all cities but usually a good idea because you rarely use all of your pre-paid balance. After that we had our last dinner at UFO which is a hipster hot pot place (they call it fondue) that has a bit of a wait to get in, but once you are inside you will be glad you waited. The chicken wings are some of the best I’ve ever had! The main course hot pot was filled with ramen cake and delicious. Safe to say, you will do well in Beijing if you like spicy food.
